I’m always grateful when I can help people realize who they serve in their business. I call that person their Bat Signal. Today I’m helping Michelle who spent the last three years of her life in the healthcare field in long-term care.
To decide who your Bat Signal is, or who you serve, I‘m asking you to draw a line that represents your life. Next, draw a hashmark on that line for each time in your life when you faced a struggle and moved beyond it. Think about a time you were up until 2 am googling and looking for an answer.
When Michelle did that, she realized that she had always worked in the caregiving field or been the caregiver to somebody like her father. When COVID hit and Michelle’s dad passed away she felt like it was time for her to move in a different direction. Now she is now a Director at a local Hospice Nonprofit. As you can imagine it’s been a couple of difficult years so Michelle wonders if serving people in this field could lead to burnout.
As we spoke, Michelle realized that what exhausted her was life. She is still passionate about guiding people through Hospice. It’s important to choose a Bat Signal that you can talk about day in and day out. If you are burned out in one area don’t try to serve in that same area. I talk more about that in the short video at the top of this blog.
As Michelle considers which Bat Signal to choose, I recommended that she ask God to light up her path. When we pray for direction in our business that is powerful. I’m not talking about telling God which direction we want to go in. I’m talking about asking for illumination and guidance. God has inspired me, and I help people build home-based businesses from home using what they already know in 5-10 hours a week.
